About Me
I am fascinated by the tacit power of openings. Doors, windows, natural arches, and alleyways beckon me to wonder what lies beyond what I can easily see- beyond the obvious. There’s something unexplored on the other side, a potential that can only be initially sensed. I try to capture that latent force in my paintings. So many of these “gateway” scenes are from my travels. Travel is like a portal; it opens a door to learn about another’s culture, story, and land. Passing through those experiences (first living through them, then painting them) changes me in ways that expand my preconceptions, and coaxes me to my next portal.
